An excellent quote I heard recently:

"I love how Republicans can control all three branches of the federal government and most of the state houses, expand the powers of the federal government to an unprecedented level, and yet still paint the Democrats as the "government."

It's true. Many American conservatives just don't seem to get that they are in control. In control of a large part of the media, the executive, the legislature, and most of the judiciary.
