The Skeptic's Annotated Bible

The Skeptic's Annotated Bible

Also covers the book of Mormon and the Koran. This pretty much sums up why people are atheists, and why I don't take the Bible as an automatic truth.

I promise, this is the last time I argue religon on this blog. It's pointless and only hurts people's feelings, but I think this link might be of interest to other atheists.

So, you admit that the english bible may be incorrect due to translation errors. Well, think about that for a minute. What if someone translating the bible into English (or Latin or whatever) decided to slip a little bit in? Or a not-so-little bit. Like, "thost can drink strong drink." or whatever. Perhaps you shouldn't take it whole-grain without a pinch of salt?

Anyway, your excuses only cover a few segments. How many sons did Absalom have? 3 or none? Should you drink wine or not? How long does God's anger last? Forever or just a moment? There are many contradictions in the Bible, and not all of them can be explained by "tense errors".

There are many contradiction within the bible, too many I believe to simply be answered by "translation problems". Many of them probably existing in the old Hebrew version as well.

And, as I have an interest in linguistics, I can tell you that every language has a way of indicating tense.
